From the Director’s Desk
Dear Fellow Soldiers of Christ Jesus,
Greetings from the students and staff of Bear Valley Bible Institute Nigeria and Southwest School of Evangelism, Ibadan.
With deep appreciation to our Lord Christ Jesus, who in His grace and mercy has made me one of His ministers in His kingdom on earth, I send you this September 2026 report.
First Semester Classes Concluded:
The first semester of the 2026/2027 academic session, which began on Monday, August 3rd, ended on September 25th, 2026, with twenty-eight students: nineteen in Year One and nine in Year Two. Eight instructors served actively on the Ibadan main campus, and three served at the BVBIN & SWSE-Ibadan Satellite Campus in Sabo-Sagamu, Ogun State.
Subjects taught this semester:
Old Testament History
Old Testament Wisdom I (Job & Ecclesiastes)
Life of Christ I (Matthew)
New Testament Church I (The True Church)
The Pentateuch
Denominational Doctrines & Scheme of Redemption
Research & Writing
Godhead
Old & New Testament Survey
1st, 2nd and 3rd John
Evangelism I (Personal Evangelism)
Prison Epistles
Systematic Theology
Church Problems
Bro. Olowe Timileyin, Bro. Olaegbe Samuel and Bro. Oladokun Samuel continued their service in our extension program in Sabo-Sagamu, Ogun State. The second semester will, by God’s grace, begin on Monday, October 26th, 2026.
Weekend Evangelism Outreach:
In spite of low funds, the school continued its assistance to nine congregations within Ibadan and Asejire in Osun State. As a result of our joint efforts with the brethren in those congregations, fifteen souls were added to the body of Christ and three were restored to the faith between July and September 2026. To God be the glory and honour.
Students’ Vocational Studies / Teaching Practice:
Most of our Year One students are now undergoing vocational studies in Ibadan for the next four weeks, while our Year Two students are assisting some congregations in Oyo, Osun and Lagos States during this break. We expect them back on the evening of October 25th in preparation for the second semester.
Accomplishments:
In spite of financial challenges since last year, by God’s grace, we are still forging ahead as a school of evangelism and a preacher-training institution.
With the generous gift of $400 from Brother Chad Wagner and associates, the school was able to repair the collapsed fence between September 14th and 18th.
Our Challenges:
Outstanding debt. The school currently carries an outstanding debt of ₦8,110,000, resulting from financial difficulties experienced by some stakeholders, which affected their contributions toward the July–December 2025 training period.
Evangelism Van engine. The school needs about ₦150,000 ($107) to ring (overhaul) the worn engine of our Evangelism Van, or ₦1,500,000 ($1,071) to replace it with a fairly-used (tokunbo) engine. According to our mechanic, ringing the engine will serve us for another three to five months, while a tokunbo engine may serve for another two to four years before developing another major problem.
Introducing an Additional Instructor:
I write with joy to introduce one of our faithful sons, Brother Festus Ayoo Usman, a 2013 graduate of Southwest School of Evangelism, Ibadan.
Due to an attempted assassination by bandits in early 2026, Brother Usman relocated from Isanlu Town, Kogi State, to Butu-London, Butubutu Village via Badeku, Jago, Ona-Ara L.G.A., Oyo State. He is currently:
a BVBIN degree student,
Minister of the Church of Christ, Jago via Badeku, and
Science Teacher at Southwest Kiddies Academy.
He is happily married and blessed with four children. The Lord willing, he will join the teaching crew of BVBIN / SWSE-Ibadan next semester (October 26 – December 19, 2026). We thank God for his life and commitment, and we commend him to your fellowship and support.
My Dream: Preserving a Legacy for the Next Generation:
As I grow older, my earnest desire is to preserve the bulk of my teachings since the establishment of the Southwest School of Evangelism, Ibadan, in 2003, in published form, so that the coming generation may glean from them.
To the glory of God, I have already published three books this year: Ethics of Finance, The Psychology of Christian Personality, and Growing a Local Church. One thousand copies of each were printed and distributed freely to congregations of the Lord’s church and friends throughout Nigeria.
I have now completed the compilation of two additional lecture series: Church Problems and Systematic Theology. The cost of printing one thousand copies of these books is estimated at over ₦2,000,000 (Two Million Naira). This is my humble effort to leave a lasting teaching legacy for the church.
Southwest School of Evangelism, Ibadan: Kiddies Academy and College:
The Southwest School of Evangelism, Ibadan, Kiddies Academy and College, Butu-London, Butubutu Village via Badeku Jago, is a non-profit organisation established to train the children of less privileged brethren and community people in a godly and disciplined environment.
We deeply appreciate the Gahana-Jefferson congregation and Zachary and Kim Van Tassel for their support over the years. Since they will discontinue their support from 2027, we humbly solicit financial assistance for the continuation of this program, because of my passion for the children of the less privileged brethren and community people in this part of the world. It costs $100 to pay a pupil’s school fees for a year in the Kiddies Academy and about $150 in the junior high class.
Fourth Batch of the BVBIN Bachelor Degree Program Continues:
By God’s grace, the fourth BVBIN Degree Program will continue its sandwich program from Monday, November 30 to December 11, 2026, under the direction of Brother Chad Wagner, BVBIN International Director and SWSE-Ibadan Patron.
Brother Olaniyan Isaac will handle Research & Writing I between November 30 and December 4, while I, Brother Makinde Ebens, will handle Advanced Fundamentals of the Faith I between December 7 and 11, Lord willing. New intake is welcome.
We deeply appreciate this vision from BVBID, USA, and the support enjoyed from both our American and Nigerian brethren for this advanced training program for ministers of God in Nigeria.
Coming Events:
Three-Day Mass Evangelism Outreach in Ogungbade Area, Ibadan (October 8–11, 2026). We are planning a three-day mass evangelism outreach in the Ogungbade area of Ibadan, with the aim of planting the Lord’s church in the area where one of our female students resides. Bro. Eniafe Olukayode will assist the new congregation until it is mature enough to appoint its own minister.
Conclusion:
We deeply appreciate the moral and financial contributions of all our stakeholders toward the growth and continuity of this preacher-training institution and the Lord’s church in Africa and the world at large. May the Lord of blessings continue to bless all you do for His name. This is our fervent prayer.
Sincerely His and yours as a servant,
Makinde Ebenezer Olufemi
The Chief Servant, BVBIN, SWSE-Ibadan and WBSFUW

REPORT OF THE BVBIN & SWSE-IBADAN EXTENSION PROGRAM, SABO-SAGAMU STUDY CENTER, OGUN STATE (JULY – DECEMBER 2026)
Praises be to the name of the Lord for seeing us through the third quarter of the year 2026. I want to appreciate God on behalf of the Bear Valley family all over the world.
I want to appreciate the International Director, the National Director, the Extension School Coordinator, and all those who have committed themselves to the support of the Bear Valley family. It is a great honour to serve together with you in this noble task of preparing men for service in the kingdom of God.
This quarter was filled with activities and the saving of souls.
Lectures
In this quarter, three courses were handled by our instructors:
The Life of Christ 4: the study of the book of John. Bode Olowe
1 Corinthians. Samuel Olaegbe
Study of Church Mission. Samuel Oladokun
Evangelism
The instructors and the students embarked on evangelism in the Sabintu area of Sagamu, in our efforts to work with the church of Christ at Kajola, very close to Sagamu. Two people were baptized and are being encouraged by the church at Kajola.
Help for One of Our Preachers
It is sad to report that one of our preachers working in this area with the church at Ilisan, Bro. Emmanuel Iwoji, who loved the school and has been working in evangelism with us, is presently down with a stroke. He has been sick for two months and is presently struggling for his life. The instructor and students made a visit to him. We desire the prayers of the saints on his behalf.
Our Approval
It is our desire to still appeal for the approval of the Bear Valley Bible Institute Nigeria, Sagamu Study Center, which started working with the main campus, Bear Valley Bible Institute and Southwest School of Evangelism, in January 2025. Through these efforts we have worked together in evangelizing Sagamu and some parts of Ijebu and Remo areas, and I believe this is just the beginning if we have the approval.
Conclusion
I want to say thank you to Brother Ebenezer Makinde and all the staff of Bear Valley Bible Institute and Southwest School of Evangelism in Butubutu, Ibadan, and thanks to all the Directors of the school and the International Directors. We look forward to continuing to work with you.
Yours faithfully,
Bode Olowe (Evangelist)
