MISSION UPDATES: JULY & AUGUST 2024
I bring you greetings from my family and your brothers and sisters in Nigeria. I am so thankful to God for His Grace to preach the Gospel and to you for providing financial support and prayers for the spread of the Gospel in Nigeria.
In the month of July, 2024, the World Bible School Abak Team, during our monthly meeting, reported 15 baptisms, 3 seminars and 2 restorations in our different area congregations.
On July 14, I resumed work at Church of Christ Ikot Akpabio after about 4 months of sick leave. The brethren were so happy to receive me back and I started to officiate some activities that does not need much standing like officiating in the Lord’s table and prayers.
On July 28, Enobong Blessed Udeme was restored to Christ after showing fruits of repentance from backsliding.
On August 4, Brother Henry Huffard worshipped and preached at my congregation Ikot Akpabio. It was so encouraging to the brethren! He also visited my home and brought us many gifts-clothes and money for seminars.
On August 6-9, The Nigeria Christian Bible College Ukpom, Abak conducted her 70th Annual Bible Lectureship and Platinum Jubilee. I was the chairman of the planning committee of the celebration. The theme of the lectureship was NCBC at 70, Hindsight and Foresight. We had great speakers from the USA like Henry Huffard, Chad and Rena Wagner, Rita and Mike Cochrane. There were many interesting features during the platinum lectureship such as Baccalaureate service, Pig Roast, commissioning of projects such as the Palmer House, Vultee building, award ceremonies and unveiling of the Senataph Alumni Home. On Friday August 9th, 29 students, who were trained for two years, were convoked as Ministers of the Gospel and 65 souls were baptized during the Bible Lectureship. More than 5,000 people were in attendance.
On August 21st-24th, 2024, the CAO Essien Bible College, in conjunction with the Church of Christ Ikot Usen, conducted the Ibiono Ibom Youth Forum under the theme “Stereotype.” Forty-five souls were baptized into Christ.
For these two months, July and August 2024, I have been associated with 125 baptisms, 2 Bible lectureships, 5 seminars and 4 restorations. To God be all the glory.
During the NCBC lectureship, three students from the East Pointe Church of Christ were baptized. Their name are: (1) Daniel Bassey-students of Wayne Duren; (2) Joy Godwin – student of John Fitzpatrick; and (3) Ekom Udom – student of Patricia Duren.
I have mailed over 100 student lessons to Brother Wayne Duren, the Minister these past 2 months.
THE BURIAL OF MY MOTHER-LATE GRACE SUNDAY JOSHUA 1939-2024: I lost my dear mother to death on June 20, 2024. Due to my health condition, I decided to keep her burial till December 14 so that I will be able to run errands and arrangement for the funeral service. Please my brethren, kindly give me some financial assistance for the burial of my late mother please include the burial assistance in the July-September support so that I may receive in time for the funeral arrangements and expenses.
